A comprehensive guide for overseas learners attending Britannia Elite training programmes in Uganda.
Britannia Elite welcomes international students from across the world to participate in our accredited security, medical, leadership and specialist programmes.
This page provides clear, practical guidance to support your travel planning and ensure you meet all requirements prior to attending training.
These guidelines apply to all international learners, regardless of course type.
✈️ 1. VISA REQUIREMENTS
All foreign nationals must obtain a visa before travelling to Uganda.

✔ Common Visa Types Used by Students
- Single-Entry Tourist Visa (most suitable for short training programmes)
- East Africa Tourist Visa (Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda access)
- Multiple-Entry Visa (longer-term deployments or multiple visits)
✔ Student Responsibilities
You must complete the visa process independently, including:
- Completing the online application
- Uploading passport and supporting documents
- Paying all visa fees
- Ensuring your passport has at least 6 months validity remaining
- Printing your visa approval letter
Britannia Elite cannot influence or guarantee visa approval, as this is solely the decision of the Ugandan Immigration Directorate.
✔ Documents Britannia Elite Will Provide
Issued ONLY after full payment has been received:
- Letter of Course Confirmation
- Training Attendance Letter (for visa or embassy purposes)
These letters confirm your training dates and participation but do not guarantee a visa.
🩺 2. MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS
✔ Mandatory for Entry
- Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate
This must be presented upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport.
✔ Recommended Vaccinations / Precautions
While optional, students are strongly advised to consider:
- Hepatitis A & B
- Typhoid
- Tetanus booster
- Malaria prophylaxis
- Personal medical supplies (prescribed medications, inhalers, allergy treatments)
Students must consult their own medical practitioner for advice tailored to their health needs.
Britannia Elite does not provide medical advice or vaccinations.
🛬 3. FLIGHTS, ARRIVAL & AIRPORT PICK-UP
✔ Arrival Airport
All international students should fly into: Entebbe International Airport (EBB)
✔ Arrival Deadline
Students must arrive no later than the Sunday before the course start date.
This allows time for administration, kit issue and induction.
✔ Transport Support
Britannia Elite will provide airport pick-up and drop-off at designated times.
These timings are provided in the Joining Instructions once your place is confirmed and paid.
✔ Student Responsibilities
You must:
- Book and pay for your own flights
- Manage airport formalities
- Arrive on time
- Inform Britannia Elite of your arrival time in advance
Britannia Elite does not book flights or provide travel agency services.
🏠 4. ACCOMMODATION & LIVING ARRANGEMENTS
✔ Residential Courses
Most Britannia Elite programmes (including Vigilant Defender Level 2–4) include on-site residential accommodation, covering:
- Accommodation
- Meals
- Training facility access
This is included in the course structure unless stated otherwise.
✔ Specialist Courses
Students attending non-residential specialist modules (HEAT, Close Protection add-on modules, C-IED programmes) may:
- Stay on-site where available, or
- Arrange their own external accommodation at personal cost
✔ Accommodation Letters
If accommodation is included, Britannia Elite may confirm this only in the official confirmation letter issued after payment.
We do not issue housing documents for visa applications unless it forms part of the paid programme.
🎒 5. PRE-ARRIVAL PREPARATION & JOINING GUIDELINES
Before travelling, students must ensure they have:
✔ Essential Documents
- Valid passport
- Approved visa
- Yellow Fever certificate
- Travel insurance
- Flight itinerary
- Course confirmation letter (from Britannia Elite)
✔ Personal Equipment
- Appropriate outdoor/physical training clothing
- Footwear suitable for field exercises
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- Personal hygiene items
- Any prescribed medication
✔ Professional Conduct
Students must comply with Ugandan national laws and the code of conduct outlined in Britannia Elite’s Joining Instructions.
Britannia Elite holds no responsibility for any student who breaches national law.
✔ When You Receive Your Joining Instructions
Joining Instructions are sent after full payment, and include:
- Course timetable
- What to bring
- Dress requirements
- Conduct and discipline standards
- Airport pickup schedule
- Medical and training safety information
- Emergency contact details
No Joining Instructions or supporting letters are issued until payment is complete.
⚠️ 6. LIABILITY, LIMITATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Britannia Elite Does NOT:
- Guarantee visas
- Offer immigration or legal advice
- Provide travel insurance
- Book flights
- Provide embassy representation
- Issue documentation prior to payment
Britannia Elite WILL:
- Provide airport pickup (scheduled)
- Issue course confirmation and attendance letters (after payment)
- Notify your embassy/consulate of your presence in Uganda if required
- Provide residential accommodation for applicable courses
- Deliver accredited, regulated training in compliance with UK/UNQF frameworks
Students remain fully responsible for all international travel requirements and legal compliance.
🚫 7. CONDUCT, BEHAVIOUR & ZERO-TOLERANCE POLICIES
Britannia Elite maintains the highest standards of professionalism, welfare and safety across all training programmes. All students must conduct themselves in a disciplined, respectful and lawful manner at all times, both on and off the training premises.
The following behaviours are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate removal from the course and the training facility:
❌ Drug use or possession of illegal substances
❌ Alcohol consumption during training hours or intoxication on site
❌ Bullying, Harassment or Intimidation of any kind
❌ Discrimination, Abuse or Threatening behaviour
❌ Behaviour that endangers others or disrupts training
❌ Possession of indecent material in any form
❌ Holding or in possession of an illegal weapons in any form
❌ Thievery
There is zero tolerance for any breach of these standards.
✔ Investigation & Action
Any report of misconduct will be formally investigated by Britannia Elite management. If the allegation is upheld, the student will be dismissed from training immediately.
✔ Consequences of Removal
If a student is removed for misconduct:
- Training fees are not refundable
- Britannia Elite assumes no responsibility for return flights, accommodation or travel arrangements
- The student’s employer (where applicable) will be informed
- The student’s embassy/consulate will be notified of their removal and presence in country
- The student will be escorted off-site and barred from re-entry
These measures ensure the safety, dignity and welfare of all participants and staff.
💱 8. CURRENCY, PAYMENTS & LOCAL BANKING
Uganda operates on the Ugandan Shilling (UGX).
International students will find that exchanging currency upon arrival in Uganda is generally the most cost-effective and reliable option.
✔ Currency Exchange
- Rates in Uganda are usually better than overseas exchange services
- Licensed currency exchange outlets are available at:
- Entebbe International Airport
- Major towns and shopping centres
- Registered forex bureau facilities near the training location
- USD, GBP and EUR are the easiest currencies to exchange
✔ Local Banking Facilities
Students will find modern and accessible banking options, including:
- ATMs (Visa, Mastercard, and some international debit cards supported)
- Bank branches in most urban areas
- Mobile money services (highly common across East Africa)
✔ Recommended Practice
- Bring clean, recent-series banknotes for best exchange rates
- Avoid exchanging money with unofficial street vendors
- Inform your bank you are travelling to Uganda to prevent card blocks
- Always keep money secure and use ATMs located inside bank buildings or malls
✔ What Britannia Elite Does Not Do
- We do not hold or transfer money for students
- We do not provide loans or cash exchanges
- We do not manage personal banking issues
This guidance helps ensure students can manage daily expenses safely and effectively while attending training.
